Review by Susan W

Well on Saturday 8 March I went to my very first Hobbycraft exhibition at the SECC

My Mum was with me as she was interested in the Creative Stitches part and although this did not interest me I bought a cross stich kit to give to her as a birthday present and also went a bit mad a a stall selling buttons - I think the name was Talisman - as they had displays of cards made with buttons. I bought pastel ballon shaped flat buttons for baby cards. Dinky little flower pot and flower buttons, little wooden houses, dogs, cats and cute baby faces.

Well, into the main event, the Hobbycraft hall. For a beginner to card making and a first timer to these events it was like an Alladdins cave and if I had not set myself a very strict budget then my credit card might have gone into meltdown.

I just love anything that sparkles and Oh boy was there some sparkling going on

I managed to restrict myself to buying some beautiful vellums with leaves, musical notes, flowers and words on, some gorgeous sparkly galaxy dust which is a mixture of fine glitter and ground glass with I saw demonstrated with double sided adhesive sheets and fabulous daisy peel offs, sparkly card and pearlescent cards. I did not buy any stamps or inkpads as for a beginner my collection is growing rapidly.

As a first timer I think if I went again I would sit down and have a think about what I really needed before I went.

I had a wonderful day, enjoyed all of the demonstrations and would have stayed all night if I could have.

As for the stalls, each one was better than the next with more and more wonderful products and ideas.

I just have one question - when is the next one???
